Our last report shared with you that My Community Dental Centers had a straight forward plan, but 2020 was a year like no other.
It’s undeniable that the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. While our plan for 2020 took on more twists and turns than we could have ever anticipated, together, it was a year that underscored the importance of providing dental care for all.

Someone needs Emergency Dental Care in the United States
The average charge for an ED visit for non-traumatic dental conditions is $1,428.
MCDC Locations Remained Open During COVID-19
From March 17 – May 31, 2020 MCDC saw 1,779 patients.
92.8% of those patients were over 18, while 7.2% were under 18.
Emergency Patients Were Seen at an MCDC during COVID-19
By remaining open for emergency dental care, MCDC reduced the burden on the emergency department and health care facilities.

Our State-Funded Impact
To advance oral health equity, it is critical that we continue to develop awareness, build support, and advocate for state and local policies and funding to increase access to dental care in underserved communities.
