Hospital Services

On certain occasions, patients are unable to have their dental care completed in a traditional dental office. MCDC has a program for patients with special needs ā€” either medical or developmental ā€” in which services are completed in a hospital to ensure safe oral health care services.

Hospital dentistry is the process of having dental procedures completed while sedated, in a hospital operating room.

This involves a medical team in addition to a dental team. It is considered a surgery and requires medical monitoring by a physician before, during, and after the procedure. The dental procedures completed include x-rays, restorations, and extractions. The main benefit for these patients is to complete all dental services in a single visit.
