My Community Dental Centers Mark Patient Service Milestone
100,000th smile checked as dental network continues strategic growth statewide, providing access, affordability and quality care to those most in need.
BOYNE CITY, MICH., December 12, 2017 — Most people go in for their routine dental check-ups expecting a free toothbrush, not balloons and confetti. Two sisters from Hillsdale County today have received special treatment, as their routine trip to the dentist marks a huge milestone for the network of community dental centers growing throughout Michigan (20 Care Dr, Hillsdale, MI 49242).
My Community Dental Centers (MCDC) today reaches a new all-time annual patient service goal of 100,000 individual Michigan patients served in a single year. MCDC is the first nonprofit dental support organization to achieve this level of service, and the northern Michigan-based organization is on track to double the number of people it serves by 2020.
“MCDC has worked in a very disciplined way over the years to prove and ensure the sustainability of our business model, which is vitally important to our ability to serve the needs of people and their overall health and well-being, and fulfill our not-for-profit mission,” said MCDC president and CEO Greg Heintschel, D.D.S., MBA. “With success comes additional opportunities to serve even more patients, in more communities. We welcome that opportunity, and will meet that challenge using the same focused, strategic and mission-driven approach that has brought us to this milestone today.”
In 2016, the organization served 91,875 individual Michigan patients. MCDC’s Massive Transformative Purpose program sets an aggressive goal for serving 200,000 patients annually by 2020. MCDC also plans to begin expanding into other states in future years. Heintschel said that while achieving this goal is important, the caring, quality service that every patient deserves and that is MCDC’s hallmark remains top priority.
MCDC operates 36 dental centers statewide, with four centers (Hillsdale, Coldwater, Three Rivers and Sturgis) in partnership with the Branch-Hillsdale St. Joseph Community Health Agency. According to Rebecca Burns, Health Officer, “Each is a tremendous community asset, helping to improve the health and well-being of our residents.”
Seven-year-old Ava and five-year-old Lily Middleton, MCDC’s 100,000th and 100,001st patients, were honored with special gifts in the Hillsdale dental center today.
Established in 2006, MCDC is the largest not-for-profit 501(c)3 Dental Support Organization in the United States that is dedicated to providing quality care to all. MCDC welcomes patients covered through Medicaid, Healthy Kids Dental, Healthy Michigan Plan and private dental insurance. The organization is also pleased to offer My Dental Program (MyDP) for those without dental insurance, which provides reduced fees based on household income. Comprehensive dental care for the entire family, including exams, cleanings, fillings, tooth removal, and dentures are provided. MCDC focuses on quality care that is customized for each patient and offered in a patient-centered atmosphere with exceptional customer service. The centers also utilize electronic patient records, digital radiography, and state-of-the-art dental equipment.
MCDC welcomes new patients. Those looking for a dental home may call 877.313.6232 to schedule an appointment or preregister online at www.mydental.org.
