Expanding Access to Care

MARQUETTE

In pursuit of our goal of expanding access to care, we announced in 2022 the relocation and grand opening of our new Marquette dental center. On Sept. 12, our Marquette dental team opened the doors to their new home, located at the corner of Washington Street and McClellan Avenue. The renovated facility boasts a 6,000-square-foot office with a spacious reception area and 12 operatory rooms, nearly doubling the capacity of its previous location.

MCDC has been proud to provide services in partnership with the Marquette County Health Department for nearly 15 years. The dental center has served over 3,000 unique individuals annually, ensuring access to quality dental care

“We have seen first-hand the impact MCDC has made within our community,” said Gerald A. Messana, MPA, Health Officer at the Marquette County Health Department. “This relocation is a testament to MCDC’s commitment to increasing access to dental care not only here in Marquette, but throughout the State of Michigan. We are pleased to continue our partnership to collaboratively improve oral health and overall health across the state.”

BENTON HARBOR

As MCDC continues to look for opportunities to expand access to care and its footprint throughout Michigan, we were made aware of an opportunity to acquire a facility in Southwest Michigan in Berrien County. Our Benton Harbor location was added to the MCDC family in September of 2022. With the support of the Delta Dental Foundation, MCDC looks forward to upgrading equipment –dental chairs, x-ray units, and sterilization, which will vastly improve efficiencies and patient care.

HILLSDALE COUNTY UNITES

For more than a decade, MCDC has worked in collaboration with Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency to bring access to dental care to those within Hillsdale County. After the loss of a dental provider, the center was forced to temporarily close its doors in April 2021.

The community was resilient and came together to assist with efforts to recruit a dentist to serve the area. The Health Officer for the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency (BHSJCHA) spearheaded efforts to secure financial support to establish an incentive package to attract a dentist. Financial support was provided by Hillsdale Hospital, the Hillsdale Community Foundation, the Hillsdale Human Services Collaborative, BHSJCHA and MCDC. The MCDC office in Hillsdale reopened in September 2022!
