COVID-19 Safety

May 29, 2020

The safety of our patients and staff has been, and will continue to be, our number one priority.  MCDC will be reopening centers in phases based on several factors including the Governor’s reopening of business, availability of protective supplies and the implementation of staff training and new safety procedures.

We want to assure you that we are committed to providing full service dental care and are working on implementing safety measures to begin to reopen centers throughout the state.

Social Distancing

  • To allow social distancing between patients, there will be more time between appointments and fewer time options.
  • When you arrive at your appointment, we will ask you to wait in your car instead of the waiting room and will let you know when we are ready for you.
  • We also ask that you come into the office alone. If necessary, one caregiver or family member may come in with a patient and will be screened.

  • While scheduling, you may be asked some screening questions, and we will ask those same questions when you arrive for your appointment.
  • We will do a temperature screening upon your arrival.
  • If you are exhibiting symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, we ask that you refrain from visiting the office and call us to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

Cleaning & Hygiene

  • Cleanliness has always been one of our highest priorities, and we’re taking the extra steps necessary to keep you safe.
  • We ask that everyone who enters the office wear a face covering or mask and use the hand sanitizer that we have available when you arrive.
  • We have removed hard-to-disinfect items, including toys, books, and magazines from the waiting room.
  • For added precautions, you will see that all staff, including the front office staff, will be wearing masks. Depending on procedures, we will be wearing additional protective gear that may look different than what you are used to.

Is it safe to go to the dentist?

Due to COVID-19, there are additional safety precautions in place at our offices. These have been recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Dental Association®. Please see the outlined precautions above.

How can I practice social distancing while at the dentist?

Everyone must maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other unless they are giving or receiving direct patient care. To ensure this, we have outlined our social distancing practices below:

  • To allow social distancing between patients, there will be more time between appointments and fewer time options.
  • When patients arrive for their appointment, we are asking them to wait in the car instead of the waiting room and will let them know when we are ready. This limits the number of people in the waiting area at one time.
  • We are asking patients to come into the office alone. If necessary, one caregiver or family member may come in with a patient and will be screened.

Should I cancel my upcoming appointment?

No, there is no need to cancel or reschedule your next appointment, unless you are feeling sick.

While many things have changed, one thing remains the same: our commitment to your health and safety. Your MCDC team is working carefully to exceed public health guidelines and adhere to state and federal recommendations to ensure the well-being of our patients and team members. If you are exhibiting symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, we ask that you refrain from visiting the office and call us to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

When should I schedule my next appointment?

It is critical that you see a dentist immediately if you are experiencing any type of dental pain, swelling, or bleeding. For dental service needs that require non-emergency procedures, our dentists can see you immediately to recommend the best treatment options and alternatives. Keeping regular dental visits helps reduce the risks for cavities and infections and also the expensive costs of having extensive dental procedures done. To schedule an appointment, call (877) 313-6232.

How should I schedule my appointment with My Community Dental Centers?

To register as a patient you may either call (877) 313-6232 or you may use our online registration form. Our staff will contact you to schedule your first appointment once you have submitted the form.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

My Community Dental Centers has always welcomed emergency and urgent walk-in patients, and we want to continue meeting your needs. It is highly recommended, however, that you call ahead of time and book an appointment. This allows our offices to screen all patients for COVID-19 prior to your appointment, and it helps us control the flow of visitors at our office.

Will My Community Dental Centers see me if it is not a dental emergency?

We are seeing patients for both emergency and elective procedures. It is important that you visit the dentist and maintain your oral health so your condition does not worsen over time. Want more information, call your local center!

Is My Community Dental Centers accepting new patients?

Yes, we are currently scheduling new and return patients. We realize many dental providers have temporarily closed or are slowly reopening, and this leaves many individuals with limited dental care options. Call (877) 313-6232 and we will help to find an open center near you.
