Dr. Ackerman is currently an active member of the Michigan Dental Association, and has some very detailed professional beliefs regarding his perspective on dentistry and patient care as follows: “Try to never hurt anyone. Do my best case presentation with necessary referrals to specialists to confirm my diagnosis and allow the patient to tell me what they want done — then try to deliver. No dentist ever gets 100 percent case acceptance. Keep them comfortable until they decide. I have treated patients for years prior to them accepting my best treatment plan. If they are so far out of line that severe damage will be done, I will dismiss the patient from my care and document, as this is in the patient’s best interest. Patients will only keep the appointments if they agree with your treatment plan.”
Dr. Ackerman’s professional interests include: TMJ dysfunction, oral surgery, restoration with implants, complicated crown and bridge and removable partial dentures, endodontics, and any new techniques that can improve his ability to provide better patient care.
Out of the office, Dr. Ackerman likes to hunt, fish and enjoys collecting antique clocks, pocket watches, phonographs and music boxes. He also collects Antique music in the form of cylinder and 78 rpm records, and metal music box disks. All that said, though, his family comes first before anything else.
