Ohio Medicaid

For those living in Ohio that have Medicaid, you may not realize that your Medicaid does cover some dental services for adults and children. This means you can keep your teeth and gums healthy without having to worry whether or not you can afford the care you need.

A healthy smile is a happy smile. It gives one the confidence to face the world and even helps in situations such as job interviews. In addition, healthy teeth and gums help improve a person’s overall general heath, so good oral health is especially important, and with Ohio Medicaid and MCDC, top quality dental care is only a phone call away.

Dental Services Covered Under Ohio Medicaid

Ohio Medicaid does make provisions to cover several different dental services including:

  • Yearly exam and cleaning for adults twenty-one years of age and older.
  • Twice yearly exams and cleanings for children up to the age of twenty.
  • Normal x-rays
  • Braces
  • Partial Plates
  • Dentures
  • Emergency tooth re-implantation for adults
  • Impacted wisdom teeth removal

For all of these routine services, you will not need to obtain prior approval. If you do require additional dental services, you will need to receive approval before the procedure is performed.
